Ortho-buddy and brushing your teeth with braces
How exactly is Ortho-buddy used?
Ortho-buddy is used prior to brushing to remove plaque around, under and in between the brackets. It’s important to remember, that it should only be used around the brackets. Afterward, normal brushing is done as usual with toothbrush and toothpaste on all surfaces of the teeth, including where the brackets are.
**Important** Debridement, or the removal of plaque, is inefficient with a normal toothbrush.
Why?
Because normal toothbrushes are designed for teeth without braces on. The bristles are not designed to get into the tiny areas around the brackets, all the way up the gum line and also between the teeth.
On the other hand, Ortho-buddy is designed to easily and effectively do all three of these very important things.
One other feature to remember when using Ortho-buddy - if the wire permanently bends while using Ortho-buddy, you’re using too much force with the brush.
We designed the toothbrush to take into account how hard patients are brushing because patients actually can do severe damage to their teeth by brushing too hard.
Ortho-buddy gives the patient visual feedback as to the amount of pressure needed to brush effectively and safely.
Ortho-buddy is effective, simple to use and safe.
